Smithers Pira: What are you most looking forward to at the 2017 P&P conference in December?
Dennis Keefe: Engaging in constructive interactions with the regulated industry to further U.S. FDA’s mission of ensuring the safety of food contact materials.
Smithers Pira: You are speaking on “State of the U.S.FDA’s food contact notification programme”, what can you tell us about why this is an important topic for the industry right now?
Dennis Keefe: FDA’s premarket notification program for food contact substances first and foremost protects consumers. We accomplish this through predictable, science-based regulatory oversight that enables industry to develop safe products in the food packaging and food contact material space. By better understanding FDA’s program, including our challenges, industry is better positioned to have constructive interactions with FDA and develop innovative products that improve the safety and quality of food that meet consumer demands.
