The firm claims that its Sicura Nutriflex LEDTec inks are the first products to permit safe printing of food and pharmaceuticals using LED UV curing.
Rolf Montag, is product manager of Siegwerk’s narrow web business. He explains: ‘Siegwerk regards LED UV curing as one of the growth drivers in the market. Overall we anticipate a volume-related switch from conventional UV to low-migration UV inks in the printing market in 2016.
‘A further expansion of applications will enable printers to use LED UV inks for their full range of print jobs.’
Siegwerk is also strengthening its position in flexo inks through the purchase of Actega Colorchemie; a move that received anti-competition approval on 30 April. A former subsidiary of Altana, Actega has a strong technology holding in water-based flexo inks, especially those for printing on corrugated board.
