LEATHERHEAD. 28 April 2015. Building on the success of the 2013 inaugural event, Smithers Pira will this year deliver another two-day conference focussed on food legislative and regulatory updates in the US market and beyond. Food Contact & Additives will take place in Georgetown, Washington DC, from September 28-30, 2015.
Unlike any other event in this sector, this forum brings together regulators, regulatory experts, brands, packaging companies, ingredient and additive suppliers, materials suppliers and testing services to give a unique perspective on food safety and best practices in manufacturing in this sector. Attendees will hear about the latest regulatory updates and discuss pending and potential future requirements as well as learning from a range of highly relevant case studies.
“We’re excited to be repeating this offering to the food packaging community and I’m sure this unique conference will prove to be another interesting and useful forum. Our food contact events are always well-received and, with the added benefit of this year’s advisory board’s expert insight, we are looking forward to engaging with the food additives community via this event.” Hayley Marsden, Event Director, Smithers Pira.
Confirmed advisory board members include the food contact and chemical analysis expertise of Smithers Pira’s very own Dr Alistair Irvine, in addition to legal experts Eric Greenberg, and Kevin Kenny of Decernis and industry professionals Miriam Maxwell, Senior Principle Regulatory Scientist, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, Ocean Spray Cranberries and Nancy Higley, VP Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, Kerry Ingredients and Flavors.
Along with this committee of experts, Smithers Pira will be developing a two day agenda, including plenary sessions on topics such as GRAS and FSMA, plus in-depth separate focused tracks on the regulatory specifics for food contact materials and food ingredients.
Speakers are currently being recruited for this year’s agenda and interested companies looking to present their research at the conference should contact Conference Director, Hayley Marsden. Papers on any of the following topics are of particular interest for the 2015 agenda:
- Best practices in ensuring food contact material compliance
- Best practices in ensuring compliance with food additive colorings, flavorings and other added ingredients
- Topics relating to FSMA, GRAS and other key regulatory developments in the US and beyond
Abstracts should be sent to the Organizers by May 25, for review by the advisory board.
