14:15 - 15:45 a practical session: Establishing food-contact compliance for partially regulated materials in the EU, US, and elsewhere. Dr. Alistair Irvine, Food Contact Compliance, Smithers Pira, UK

  • Catalysts and other polymerisation aids such as surfactants
  • Coatings
  • Laminates
  • Colourants
  • Adhesives

What these materials have in common is that they are not fully regulated or even exempt from specific regulation under either (or in some cases both of) the EU or FDA systems and have a more complicated regulatory status than monomers and additives for plastics and paper.  In this Workshop, Dr Alistair Irvine, will focus on the EU and FDA regulatory system, but will also draw on concepts from other major market clearance systems such as China, Mercosur and Japan.

15:45 -16:30  Networking break

16:30 – 17:00 more discussion including a Q&A

17:00 End of the pre-conference workshop
